A Letter to Me From My Da the Day After My Birth

Christian Jacob Cagle,
For nine months I’ve waited for you to come into the world. It has been a time of many emotions. I have to admit that the majority of them are ones which touch on doubt, and worry, and just plain terror. What do I know about being a father. I’m still trying to figure out my life, how am I going to be able to do a good job helping you with yours. I do know that you’ll have a lot of people who are going to surround you with love, not the least of whom are your mother and I. For of all the things I’m unsure of right now, that is definitely not one of them. I love you very much. I suppose in the end that’s all I can do. Just love you and try to do what’s right. Today thats my pledge to you, no matter what happens from this day forward, I’ll be there for you, and I will love you.
